And so the never-ending battle for control of Middle Earth has temporarily paused as Saruman and his Legions stand victorious over all that came before them! 8 Generals met, each intending to stake their claim for control of the central passes through the Misty Mountains. Only one prevailed...The results for this Primer are as follows:

Once again, I'd like to thank all the Participants who dared to enter the foray. I'd also like to thank the Wards for hosting yet another LOTR SBG event at Collectormania. I felt the event was a huge success, and inspired by the preceedings I have ventured on to start updating the Mayhem in the Mountains sections of this website for the upcoming MitM III. Having new blood in the group has made me realize that a lot of pertinent information to the Mechanics of a Tournament has been "assumed" or left out as I mistakenly thought it was inherent in the process having been involved in LOTR SBG GTs for many years now. I think by delineating some of these specifics, alot of confusion may be alleviated, and future Events will go even more smoothly, and Participants will be able to really focus on "having a Blast," right Saruman....errr, I mean Tony!

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!

The first MitM III Primer will be held on Saturday, December 10th 2011 at Collectormania.

The Primer will consist of 3 Rounds, with each Round lasting a maximum of 2.5 hours. A 600 pt. Army is required, with Army construction abiding by the rules set forth in Legions of Middle Earth.  Note: for this event, there will be NO "minimum painting requirement".  Models must be assembled, glued on their bases, and WYSIWYG applies, but beyond that there are no other requirements with regards to painting or basing. And yes, reasonable proxies are allowed, although I do recommend any use of proxies is approved by myself beforehand. Also keep in mind, it will be nigh impossible for a Player with an unpainted Army to win Best Overall, or Best Appearance. However, such Players would still qualify for Best General and Best Sportsman.

As alluded to above, Prizes will be awarded to the top player in each of the 4 following categories:  Best Overall, Best General, Best Appearance, and Best Sportsman. Prizes will be provided by Collectormania - so thanks Chris and Eric!!!

A tenative schedule for the Primer will be as follows:

0930:  Arrival/Check-in

1000 - 1230:  Round 1

1230 - 0130:  Lunch***    Note: Lunch will NOT be provided at this Event!

0145 - 0415:  Round 2

0415 - 0430:  Break

0430 - 0700:  Round 3

Award Ceremony to follow shortly after completion of Round 3

...and so "the great Battle of our time" has concluded (for now). Mayhem in the Mountains was a great success, and once again I'd like to thank all who served as Organizers or Players for the Event.

The full results will be posted in the "Past Champions" section tonight. I've already begun thinking about MitM III, and will be looking for your input soon enough. Right now or biggest task is to continue to maintain high level of the interest in LOTR SBG. We have lots of new players voicing interest, gathering armies, and wanting to learn the game. If we don't encourage, facilitate and be excited about the game ourselves, then all is for naught. I'll be starting some posts in the Forums to this end.

And by the way, is it coincident that this year for Mayhem a Dwarf model, (Gimli) won the Best 25mm category of the Painting Competition, and that a Goblin army won Best Overall??? I think not! :evil:

What does this mean? Pre-Registration had closed and you have missed the opportunity to secure a T-Shirt that fits and earn 1 Bonus Point towards your Overall Score for the Tournament - gasp-   Yes, if you Register now, you will still receive a free commemorative T-Shirt and all the other schwag, I simply can't guarantee the T Shirt size.

***A "Marker" will be required in one of the Scenarios for Mayhem in the Mountains 2011

What is a "Marker" you ask...good question. It's something you design and create using a 40mm base (Cavalry size) that represents your army. In the past for my Dwarven Horde I've used a dead Gobo with a Dwarf axe in it's back. One of the best I've seen is Jeremy William's Uruk Hai slow roasting a dead Rohan warrior on a spit over an open fire. Of course, there will be a Prize awarded to the player with the best Marker!

****And lastly, please try to submit your finalized Army List prior to the MitM!

Again, to encourage this, I've decided to make yet another additional bonus point available to add to Overall Score for the Tournament. Why is this important? By allowing me to pre-certify the Army Lists before the Tournament begins, I can focus my attention to the actual Tournament on gameday, and thus be available to answer questions, get Paint Judging completed, and most important of all...keep us on track with regards to time and the schedule. The deadline to receive the Bonus Point is September 15th.
